Modern high-performance plastics have excellent physical properties, in many cases metal parts can be replaced by more reasonable, lighter and more efficient components made of plastic with the same robustness. We use high-tech materials to replace metals like aluminium, zinc (die casting) and brass.
Apart from lower material and manufacturing costs the construction of components for injection moulding of plastics offer higher design liberties with more functionality with parts like snap-on fastenings or threads that are mouldable.
Plastic components do often have a better surface quality for vision panels and are corrosion-proof without subsequent treatments like anodizing, coating and painting. They have excellent accuracy in dimensions and can be assembled to component groups without any further treatment.
The substitution of metal with plastic provides a reduction of weight and higher design liberties and more functionality.
